We sent out a big email update a couple weeks ago, but forgot to update the blog! Here's the reprint:
Springtime Greetings from the Tacoma Food Co-op Steering Committee!
Much has happened since our last email update in February, and we are thrilled with the progress that's been made since that time. The purpose of this email is to bring you up to speed on recent accomplishments, report on current projects, and ask for your help.
Accomplishments:
• The feasibility study has been completed and we've determined there is demand for the TFC and that it's a viable project. The study was done by 3 MBA graduate students at the University of Washington Tacoma, under the direction of Dr. Gregory Rose (Professor of Marketing and Associate Dean) and Dr. Douglas Wills (Professor of Economics).
• Bylaws for the TFC have been drawn up and approved by our legal counsel. We are in the final editing stages.
• A membership structure has also been written, and is in the final editing stages.
Current Projects:
• Finalizing bylaws and membership structure
• Incorporating
• Opening a bank account
• Writing the business plan
• Launching a TFC website
• Recruiting more volunteers and Steering Committee members
• Planning the big summer event (July 19, People's Park, Tacoma, 4-9pm)
How You Can Help:
• Tell people about the event. We will have bands, farmers, local businesses, speakers, food, and fun, and it's bound to be a great day. Mark your calendar and invite your friends, family, neighbors, and colleagues. (Details coming soon!)
• Help with event planning and preparations. We need your help! We need people to set up the stage, make signs, plan children's activities, welcome people, and so much more. For more info, contact Amber Englund.
• Provide insight and input on the business plan. If you have experience writing a business plan and are excited about the future ofthe TFC, we'd welcome your input on this important step. For more info, contact Corrinne Henderson.
• Join the Steering Committee. We have room for more strategic, big-picture people who are willing to help move the vision of the TFC forward. For more info, contact Dan Hulse.
Thank you for your continued interest and support!
In cooperation,
TFC Steering Committee
(Amber Englund, Samantha Gray, Corrinne Henderson, Dan Hulse, Julio Quan, Daniel Schreiber, John Toler, and Adam Ydstie)

Greetings!
I'd like to be added to your email list if you are developing one, and to introduce myself. My name is Jodie Buller and I'm the marketing and outreach coordinator at the Skagit Valley Food Co-op in Mount Vernon. Just recently I've started meeting with my peers from madison Market, Bellingham, Port Townsend, and Sno-Isle to share resources and develop some printed materials in collaboration. We are planning another co-op summit in Olympia at the end of October, in coordination with our produce managers, to talk about the state of the region's food production and distribution, sourcing locally, and other resource shares. If you are interested, send me your email and I'll forward along the invitation.
my work email is jodie@skagitfoodcoop.com
Good luck, and may the force be with you! - Jodie
