The Tacoma Food Co-op has been officially incorporated as of June 26th. This will allow us to begin doing things that businesses do. Our first order of business is to set up our own bank account so that we can start accepting funds. Further on down the line, we will be ready to conduct other business activities: taking out loans, filing tax returns, etc.
Although we are incorporated, we still have not finalized our bylaws. These are the ground laws under which the co-op will operate. A lawyer who specializes in cooperatives prepared a draft for us, but there remain a few details to iron out.
Thank you to all of you who have supported us in this endeavor. We are excited to continue to work in cooperation will all of you as we persevere along on this journey. Don't forget to stop by and visit us on July 19th in People's Park at 4:00 p.m. as we begin fundraising and gaining support for a local food cooperative.
